Flare: 90mm f/2.5 Leica Summarit-M
The Leica 90mm f/2.5 Summarit-M is not a good choise for contre-jour imaging situations, and it is subject to substatial veiling flare should direct light strike the front element.
Grazing sunlight
I did not go looking for this flare example; it found itself, and hounded me; I could not make a clean shot here. Most telephoto lenses have this flare issue, and the 90/2.5 is no exception.
I expect that the 90/2 APO-Summicron-M ASPH would also be affected in a similar manner. However, since the 90/2.5 does not have a built-in lens hood, such flare issues are likely to be less troublesome with the 90/2 APO-Summicron-M ASPH, which does have a (small) built-in lens shade. Such conveniences are not to be underestimated in the field; having a hood built-in keeps the form factor and hassle factor down.
